Lauther grows when private relationships grow — not when databases grow. So we charge for relationships a service actually uses, and nothing at all for being a person.
Every price on this page is published early, and none of it is charged today. We do measure how much you use — that is how the limits below get set to numbers that hold up, and how we spot a problem before you have to report it. What we count is volume, never message content. You will meet a price here long before you meet it on a card.
Install it on your phone, your tablet and your next phone. Everything that keeps you safe is here, it does not expire, and it is not a teaser for a plan you'll be nudged toward later. A few things carry a generous limit, and where they do we say the number.
Running a home lab? Personal API use has no cap today, and we are measuring real volumes so the eventual limit is set from evidence rather than a guess. It will be generous — we plan to guarantee at least ~10,000 sends a month — and existing setups will hear from us before anything changes.
One price, once a year. It buys the things that make Lauther nicer to live with. Everything that protects you stays in the free tier, permanently — that line does not move.
Supporter features stay switched off for everyone today, including the pictures, and there is nothing to buy — the invoicing side is still being finished. This is what the tier will be the day it opens, published now so it arrives as a plan rather than a surprise.
Most platforms bill you for every account that ever existed. We count a person once in a month, and only when something actually happened between you.
Plain about where we are: every service runs free today. Usage is measured — we count active relationships and volume, because a limit nobody has costed is a guess — but nothing is billed and nothing is cut off. The service numbers above describe the plans as they will open; today they are goals we publish rather than gates we enforce, and we would rather say that than let you find out later. The personal free tier is different: its five-address limit is live in the code, so what this page says is what your account does. Two tiers and a conversation is all we'll publish until the third one has a real customer defining it — a longer table would describe a company we aren't yet.
A person counts once in a calendar month when your service actually interacts with them. Someone who paired with you two years ago and hasn't been touched since costs you nothing — forever.

No. Receiving notifications, holding identities, recovery and revocation stay free. If we ever add a paid personal tier it will be convenience only — think longer history or custom sounds — and we'll say so plainly.
We contact you, we don't cut you off mid-month. Early on we'd rather raise your limit than lose you — just ask.
They're our launch pricing and we're still measuring real costs per relationship. If anything moves, existing customers keep what they signed up for.
No. The free tier needs an app, a token and about a minute. You'll never be asked for payment details to build or launch.
Not today. The protocol is plain documented HTTPS with no SDK lock-in, and opening up the client pieces is on the roadmap — privacy products should be inspectable. If self-hosting is a hard requirement, ntfy or Gotify will serve you better and we say so plainly on the comparison page.
